Company O-8 of the National Society of Pershing Rifles was founded in March 2004 at Canisius College out of Buffalo, NY. An affiliate of the Golden Griffin Army ROTC Battalion, Company O-8 is composed of students enrolled at Canisius College, the University at Buffalo, D'Youville College, and Buffalo State College. Although most of our members are enrolled in the Army ROTC program, membership in the National Society of Pershing Rifles and Company O-8 is open to all students enrolled at Canisius College, or cross enrolled through one of the ROTC program's affiliate schools.
Although a brand new unit in an organization founded in 1894, Company O-8 has played an important role in the development and growth of the National Society of Pershing Rifles. Our members have climbed to every level of leadership the Pershing Rifles has to offer to include both the Regimental and National Commander positions.
The National Society of Pershing Rifles prides itself on being the nation's premier undergraduate military oriented fraternal organization, producing some of the best leaders this country has seen to include the Honorable Colin Powell, former Secretary of State and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Company O-8 is no different. Since our founding, our members have time and time again served in the highest positions within the corps of cadets.
In addition to valuable leadership training, our members are part of one of the oldest Brotherhoods in the country. Every year our members travel to the Fall Commander's Call in Lincoln, NE and the Pershing Rifles National Convention to celebrate these bonds with active and alumni members from across the nation.
